I teach business management. My interest in students extends to their mental and emotional well-being, and I have obtained special credentialing to support my capacity to help those who feel anxious and alienated. Part of my journey involves getting as close as I can to the pain of this generation.This author probably means well, but this is many pages of repetitive advice that can be boiled down to a couple of sentences. One can only read between the lines here, as no idea is ever really explored; nor do I get any sense the author is able to be "with" a person who feels anxious. I had the sense that the author is seeking validation and still struggles. It seems as if he has a challenge following his own advice - he admits as much occasionally in the short book. Then he continues the challenge to:1. Listen to music he likes while saying "I love myself" for seven minutes.2. Stare at his eyes in the mirror while saying "I love myself" for a couple minutes (he focuses on his left eye)That's it. The advice is what it is, but expressed so much more eloquently in other places, by other people. What does it take to look at oneself, to face oneself honestly, allowing for the steps and missteps we take along the way? Where does self-forgiveness fit in, and how?I give him credit for wanting to save and preserve himself. It's a hard path, and I wonder who he compares himself to, if this is a factor. But I have a feeling the author is. himself, a crafted persona - a figment, looking to alight somewhere.Finally, I object to the cover. It is an assault upon the senses, and I don't know who chose it, but my heart goes out to him and those who suffer. I would not recommend this book for any student, for fear that image would somehow stick with them in a nightmare, memory, stupor, or hallucination. We, ourselves, are not the problem - it's the hauntings and real sadness that need to be acknowledged and dealt with. His central idea isn't a bad one - what moves us so readily away from self-work, self-regard, and self-respect, and into the realm of connecting with the world in such random ways that we become lost and hurt? What is it we really need? Just my opinion and I wish the author blessings wherever they will do the most good for him. A bunch of ramble..This book could have been written with 7 words "Love Yourself" and just keep repeating it.. because that's exactly what the author does the entire book. It never explains how to love yourself or ways that would help you learn to love yourself. I uploaded a photo of he two pages that sums this book up so you don't have to waste your time or money on it.
